As with the development of all state and national board exams, a group of experienced doctors of chiropractic throughout the nation, licensed to practice acupuncture per their state laws, were selected by the ACA CCA (American Chiropractic Association Council of Chiropractic Acupuncture) to weight an extensive and exhaustive outline of acupuncture data pertaining to the chiropractic profession. After gathering this data, a content database was put in place.

The ABCA Board consists of five (5) board members, of which four (4) board members shall be Diplomates of the American Board of Chiropractic Acupuncture (DABCA) each with one vote and one (1) non-voting lay representative.

Together the ABCA Board formulates both written and oral/practical examinations. The ABCA Board is also responsible for writing a Candidates Handbook, a Proctor’s Manual, a Standards and Procedures Manual, Job Analysis and forming committees to carry out the responsibilities of the ABCA Board.

Working together as a team, the ABCA and a group of field experts write a vast bank of multiple choice questions (book and page referenced) to meet the criteria set up by the ACA and ABCS. All questions are scrutinized carefully by the ABCA then fine tuned into a clearly written format with only one correct answer to each multiple choice question.

Along with the written examination, the ABCA and filed experts spend a great deal of time writing a bank of oral/practical case studies for the examinees. Each case study is built upon having the examinee diagnose the case, explain their treatment plan, choose which acupuncture points they would use to treat each case and demonstrate point location along with clean needle technique.

It is important to note the ABCA pools their knowledge of chiropractic acupuncture training from various backgrounds and teachers. No one single authority is represented as the totality of the Diplomate examination.

The ABCA is dedicated to creating an examination that will demonstrate understanding, knowledge and skill as a Chiropractic Acupuncture Physician who has earned their Diplomate certification.

Dr. Tim Green

Dr. Green is a native of Louisiana and attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe for his undergraduate studies in pre-medicine. A career in medicine was his original goal, but his plans changed after his oldest son achieved complete recovery from chronic ear infections after visiting a local chiropractor who provided a series of chiropractic adjustments and suggested dietary changes. This visit to a chiropractor was out of desperation after conventional medical intervention had provided no improvement after more than two years. This life changing experience led Dr. Green to explore the possibilities of a career in chiropractic. He subsequently entered Logan Chiropractic College and graduated in 1998. After graduating, Dr. Green opened a private practice in the rural town of Farmerville, Louisiana about thirty minutes from where he grew up. He has been privileged to treat thousands of patients from more than twenty states and several countries around the world achieving results that he gives credit to the techniques he has learned through the years from many teachers and mentors. Dr. Green has been passionate about furthering his education and has been privileged to study under some of the greatest chiropractic and acupuncture teachers in the world. He is certified in acupuncture and is a Fellow of the American Society of Acupuncture and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Acupuncture. He also holds certifications in Traditional Chinese Herbology and clinical thermography. He is a member of the American Chiropractic Association and the College of Chiropractic Acupuncture. In addition to his busy professional life, Dr. Green is very active in his community and with his family which includes his wife Tricia, and their six children. He worships at Bawcomville Church of Christ where he serves the congregation as an elder. He also serves on the board of directors for the Darbonne Range Riders, a not for profit equestrian club serving the communities of Northeast Louisiana.
